The focus is on the exotic animal group. This group includes birds, rabbits, rodents, reptiles and amphibians, among others. Currently, very few well-researched veterinary drugs are available for this particular group of animals.
Avimedical is the European leader in this area.
Topet Farma offers drugs especially for exotic animals (small mammals, reptiles and amphibians) and birds. The goal of Topet Farma is tooffer a range of products that is both of high quality and has good practical applicability, with the ultimate aim of contributing to the health and welfare of birds and exotic animals.
Topet Nutrition was founded by current CEO A.A. Oranje to sell nutritional supplements for birds. Birds are widely kept as pets, but despite much information being available, problems due to inadequate nutrition are still a frequent occurrence. The best flight performance in racing pigeons can only be achieved with good health and the correct nutritional support.
Avimedical is a young company with the ambition to provide well-researched veterinary drugs of excellent quality.
In the context of quality assurance, the company collaborates with several research institutions that have extensive experience in developing and testing veterinary drugs. In addition, Avimedical BV has its own research facilities at its disposal and accommodates close collaboration with several veterinary practices. This ensures both good practical applicability and maximum effectiveness.
One of Avimedical BV’s goals is to increase the availability of safe and effective drugs specifically for birds and exotic pets. The number of registered veterinary drugs for this special group of pets is very limited. For this reason, new registered resources are very welcome.
During the registration processes, studies are conducted with the veterinary drugs in the target animal species. These extensive studies prior to marketing these drugs serve to minimise the likelihood of unwanted and unexpected side effects and maximise clinical effectiveness.
In many cases, the pharmacokinetics of this particular group of pets has not been studied as extensively as (for example) in dogs and cats. For this reason, the extensive research prior to general use is a valuable advantage over veterinary drugs that are registered for other animals and adopted without research. This can serve to prevent resistance, ensuring a good effect with as few side effects as possible.
